Looking for a warm, nostalgic dessert with a slightly modern edge? This is it! Use prepared puff pastry as a base and layer on the rich flavors of fall. Delicious!

Butter, unsalted

1/2 cup

Brown sugar

1/2 cup

Rolled oats

1/2 cup

All-purpose flour

1/3 cup

Cinnamon, ground

1/2 tsp.

Salt

pinch

Egg

1 each

Water, divided

3 Tbsp.

Granulated sugar

1/2 cup

Heavy cream

1/4 cup

Butter

2 Tbsp.

Sea salt

pinch

Preparation Instructions:

Step 1

Thaw puff pastry and apples according to package instructions.

Step 2

Preheat oven to 375°F.

Step 3

Make streusel by browning unsalted butter and mixing with brown sugar, oats, flour, cinnamon, and salt.

Step 4

For egg wash, whisk egg and 1 Tbsp water in a small bowl.

Step 5

Cut puff pastry into squares, fill with apples, fold edges, brush with egg wash, top with streusel, and roll to create layers. Bake at 375°F for 20–25 minutes.

Step 6

Make caramel by cooking sugar and 2 Tbsp. of water to amber, whisk in cream, butter, and sea salt. Drizzle caramel over baked crombolini.
